KSHATRIYA DHARMA IS THE ONLY WEAPON!!
INTRODUCTION: David Frawley, an American Hindu teacher and author who has written more than 30 books, on Vedas, Hinduism-SanatanaDharma, Yoga, Ayurveda, Vedic Astrology, published both in United States and India. He is the Founder-Director, of the American Institute of Vedic Studies in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which offers educational information on Yoga Philosophy, Ayurveda and Vedic Astrology.
In 2016, David Frawley said, “India must follow KSHATRIYA DHARMA, to defeat ADHARMI Pakistan. India today is faced with a hostile Pakistan. In the face of such dire challenges, a strong Kshatriya Dharma is required, which obviously means not only diplomacy, but, also the possible use of force”.
From time immemorial, past 1000 years or so, India has been invaded by the Moghuls, later by the Britishers, for the simple reason that our Country was culturally, economically the richest. They invaded us because they wanted to plunder, loot us of our riches, invariably to change and convert our ancient religion HINDUISM. How much ever they tried, it is ultimately we, who despite all the odds, resisted the foreign rule and came out victorious. Some of the battles were fought using the various infantry, some by AHIMSA. Ancient epics both RAMAYANA, MAHABHARATHA, taught us the invaluable lesson, that wars were waged, one for reclaiming woman, the other for reclaiming the land to establish DHARMA.
Ahimsa is said to be done without violence, physical force, various weapons etc., but when it is done this way always, in the long run, that means we are merely avoiding use of force or not using weapons is something only a coward can do; or it’s an act of cowardice. It is not always non-violence under all circumstances, not to surrender to the forces of darkness in order to avoid any conflict. It also means reducing the amount of harm going on in the world, which requires proactive policy. This does not mean it’s a passive resistance but active resistance when necessary. Otherwise we would have been thought of to be utterly submissive and to be stepped on as and when one wishes.
Our ancient kings in the 17th century fought with the foreign invaders because it is the only way we can rule here, which is even professed as VEDIC AHIMSA, which is done actively to remove the forces of adharma from the world, even if force is required to do so. Kshatriyas are the warriors, rulers, emperors, whose only dharma is to save their country and the subjects by waging war against the enemy state, country to reinstate, justice and dharma. If ahimsa is to be chosen, when a war has to be waged, then it would demean the status of the king and would seem, he has led all his country people down by his submissive and weak attitude. Courage, valour, bravery is the criteria for all KSHATRIYAS’.
There is another part which is the KSHATRIYA AHIMSA, while on this subject, instances are taken from Mahabharata, Vedas as to, how ahimsa has been part of the kings of those epic period. Arjuna seemed to have practised Ahimsa with the help of his supreme mentor, guide, philosopher, Krishna, which is removal of harmful forces that is the duty of the Kshatriya, warrior, military class of society to fulfil. When all talks of diplomatic efforts fail then the Vedic Dharma of armed conflict would be brought in. This is why when Krishna, a great diplomat of his time, when his talks failed with the Kauravas, when asked for at least five villages, to give up their arrogant efforts to usurp power. That’s when Arjuna, takes the stance of taking the Danda, or the rod, which symbolised punishment. He said that Danda is taken to protect dharma, if it is not used to protect people, the world falls into blinding darkness. Later Buddhists never rejected ahimsa, as they were also seen with armies, martial arts as their weapon.
It is notable here, that monks, yogis, swamis who took vows of ahimsa, but, when it came to defending people or subjects from adharmic attack, they deviated from ahimsa. Whenever they were onslaughts on the people, it’s the pontiffs of various maths, protected Hindu Dharma, resisted the Islamic invasions, they inspired armed resistance and thwarted them out of their lands. This practice of self-defence is the true history of India, not surrendering without a fight under the pretext of following a highest dharma of ahimsa meaning desisting from all use of force. Even when some Indian kings behaved unrigtheously, this was also thought of to be Adharma, was not honoured either.
Now the situation is, is there a violation in Hindus, in dharma of ahimsa, when they take arms against those who attack them? That’s because by denying the right of defence to Hindus, Dharma is violated, not supported and may suffer greatly. India today is faced with a hostile Pakistan, which even makes Kauravas look like saints in the face of such dire challenges, a strong Kshatriya Dharma is required, which obviously means not only diplomacy but also the possible use of force. That is, there should be a right combination of Hindus, to become a Kshatriya when his body, peace of mind is endangered, to protect oneself, he can take arms for self-defence. This way the dharma between the right and wrong is fought and a balance is struck. When diplomacy doesn’t work, always choose the other options.
It is to be noted that, Gandhi’s ahimsa, Nehru’s diplomacy worsened the Kashmir problem from the beginning, by not taking all of Kashmir back into India, after the initial invasion of the region in 1947. The over emphasis on ahimsa as to avoidance of conflict, its failure to fully honour a Kshatriya Dharma discredited India’s true martial spirit and made those in the armed forces feel apologetic about their roles. Vedas talk about the Brahma and the Kshatra to go together, that is the worldly and political power.
It is to be remembered, that India has never invaded other countries, to propagate conquests for religious purposes. The Hindu tradition never promoted conversion by force. In Hindu Dharma the ultimate aim, goal, for each and every person as Hindus is to reach the moksha or the salvation, liberation of the inner self, which exists in the hearts of all. We should seek all means of peace and reconciliation in human conflict.
We should never compromise in truth or Dharma. If a bully is appeased, his bullying tactics would only get worse, increase. Likewise, when forces of adharma do attack us, they should be opposed with relevant and necessary methods of retaliation. To give-up without a fight, compromise Dharma to avoid conflict, will be taken by the forces of adharma as surrender and an invitation for them to take over.
With India’s stance being pulling out Pakistan, out of our Most Favoured nation List, Where Pakistan never have included India’s name in their list, it is the first step of ahimsa, where now the challenge is to remove Pakistan out of our radar, give them the NO TO NOTHING STATUS, sever all connections, whatsoever. The next step would be to follow the VEDIC (king’s duty to protect his subjects by fighting the invaders) AND KSHATRIYA AHIMSA-DHARMAS, to protect our country from enemies and our people too. We have to give them a fitting reply, an action which is immediate and enormity of it, to be severe. We have every right to defend ourselves against a person, country which has been constantly attacking us, this is not the time to be quiet and follow ahimsa. Retaliation at the earliest is the appropriate reply.
TIME HAS COME, TODAY INDIA SHOULD STAND FIRM AS A MILITARY, ECONOMIC, SPIRITUAL FORCE IN THE WORLD. THE ISSUE BETWEEN INDIA AND PAKISTAN IS A WAR BETWEEN DHARMA AND ADHARMA. FOLLOWING LORD KRISHNA TODAY MEANS, BECOMING NEW ARJUNA’S AND BOLDLY FACING ALL POSSIBLE MODERN KURULSHETRAS! WE HAVE COME TO A POINT, THAT TO PROTECT DHARMA, TRUTH, AHIMSA IS NOT THE WEAPON BUT KSHATRIYA DHARMA, WHERE THE WEAPONS ARE TAKEN AND THE WAR/BATTLE IS FOUGHT.
